Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Services
Dr. Henao provides advanced vascular and endovascular care focused on improving circulation, preventing stroke, healing non healing wounds, and protecting limbs. Care is centered on three pillars: State of the Art Technology—including advanced imaging and minimally invasive techniques; Comprehensive Care—from diagnosis to long term follow up; and an Expert Team—dedicated to improving circulation and preserving limb health. This approach uses the latest minimally invasive, hybrid, and open surgical techniques to support faster recovery and long term vascular health.
Conditions Treated
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
PAD occurs when the arteries supplying the legs become narrowed or blocked. This may cause leg pain, numbness, slow healing wounds, or risk of limb loss. Dr. Henao evaluates and treats PAD using advanced imaging and modern revascularization techniques.
Carotid Artery Disease
Narrowing of the carotid arteries increases the risk of stroke. Dr. Henao provides thorough diagnosis and treatment options to restore healthy blood flow to the brain and reduce stroke risk.
Aneurysms (Abdominal, Thoracic & Peripheral)
Aneurysms are weakened, bulging areas in blood vessels. Dr. Henao treats abdominal, thoracic, and peripheral aneurysms with both minimally invasive and open techniques depending on the patient’s anatomy.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
DVT involves blood clots in the deep veins, usually in the legs. Dr. Henao offers prompt evaluation and treatment to help restore healthy blood flow.
Minimally Invasive Endovascular Treatments
Minimally invasive procedures use very small incisions, often resulting in less discomfort, shorter hospital stays, and quicker return to daily activities.
Angioplasty & Stent Placement
Dr. Henao uses balloons and stents—including drug coated and drug eluting technologies—to open blocked arteries and improve circulation.
Atherectomy & Calcium Breaking Techniques
For heavily calcified blockages, Dr. Henao performs directional, rotational, or laser atherectomy, as well as intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) to prepare vessels for successful treatment.
Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR & TEVAR)
Using small incisions, Dr. Henao can place stent grafts inside abdominal or chest aneurysms. He also offers fenestrated and branched repairs for complex aortic aneurysms.
Repair for Prior Aneurysm Surgeries
Dr. Henao treats complications such as endoleaks or failed repairs and performs relining procedures when needed.
Blood Clot Removal (Thrombolysis & Mechanical Thrombectomy)
For blocked arteries or veins, including acute limb ischemia, DVT, or pulmonary embolism, Dr. Henao uses catheter based therapies to dissolve or remove clots safely.
Deep Venous Arterialization
For patients with severe, “no option” limb threatening ischemia, Dr. Henao offers deep venous arterialization to restore blood flow and help prevent major amputation.
Stroke Prevention Procedures
Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA)
Dr. Henao performs this proven surgery to remove plaque buildup inside the carotid artery and reduce stroke risk.
TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization)
TCAR uses a small incision and flow reversal technology to protect the brain during carotid stent placement. This minimally invasive option offers strong stroke protection for eligible patients.
Transfemoral Carotid Stenting
For select patients, carotid stents can be placed through the artery in the leg as an alternative to open surgery.
Open & Hybrid Surgical Options
Bypass Surgery
To restore blood flow around blocked arteries, Dr. Henao performs aorto femoral, femoral popliteal, and distal bypass procedures.
Open Aneurysm Repair
Certain aneurysms are best treated with traditional open surgery. Dr. Henao performs abdominal, thoracic, and peripheral open aneurysm repairs.
Hybrid Limb Salvage Surgery
Combining open and minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Henao treats multilevel arterial disease in a single procedure, supporting better limb preservation.
Access Salvage & Maintenance
Dr. Henao provides comprehensive limb preservation care for patients at risk of amputation due to poor circulation or chronic wounds.
Limb salvage services include:
- Below the knee and foot level revascularization
- Pedal, tibial, radial, and retrograde access techniques
- Advanced imaging and multilevel interventions
- Coordination with wound care specialists
- Ongoing follow up for non healing wounds
Dialysis Access Care
AV Fistula & Graft Creation
Dr. Henao creates reliable access for dialysis through arteriovenous (AV) fistulas or grafts.
Access Salvage & Maintenance
For clotted or failing dialysis access, Dr. Henao performs thrombectomy, angioplasty, and stent graft placement to restore function.
Advanced Vascular Imaging & Surveillance
Dr. Henao uses state of the art imaging to diagnose vascular conditions, guide treatment, and monitor long term health:
- Vascular ultrasound
- CT angiography
- MR angiography
- Catheter based angiography
- Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
- 3D imaging and planning for complex aortic repair
- Long term follow up for chronic vascular disease
